Chef Steven Dibble (Culinary Instructor), Reid Ledbetter and Jada Taylor (Agriculture Instructors) had the opportunity on Friday, February 6, 2015 to attend and present the Feast Down East Conference in Wilmington, NC. During the workshop Chef Dibble presented on the School-based Enterprise “The Bagpiper” which is located on the Scotland High School Campus. The presentation included information to attendees on how the culinary program came about, the start up process, and how to become a self-supporting school-based enterprise within the high school. The culinary program and agriculture program have extended this program by utilizing the on-campus high tunnel greenhouse when the horticulture program was recently reinstated at high school to support the vision of bringing fresh and sustainable produce into the restaurant. The two programs are collaborating to bring seasonal products produced by the horticulture program into the restaurant.
