On March 20th, Spring Hill Middle School TSA (Technology Student Association) held its 1st TSA Student Leadership Banquet. State Representative Garland Pierce was the Keynote speaker. Representative Pierce topic was “Leadership”. Mrs. Camille Goins (CTE Director) also addressed the banquet guests, informing them of the value of Career and Technical Education in Scotland County, especially with the national focus on STEM education.
Music was provided by Dr. Paul G. Murphy and Nijel Graham. The banquet was held to support the members’ trip to the TSA State Conference. A delicious dinner was served as the guests enjoyed the jazz and other musical selections presented by the musicians.
The program was student centered and featured TSA president Chancellor Byrd presiding. Abigail Gibson presented her 1st place Prepared Presentation which was also presented at the 2014 TSA State conference. Approximately 75 guests shared in the banquet activities. Representative Pierce commended the students on doing an excellent job and stated that we need more Career and Technical student organizations participating in events such as this. He stated that the student’s presentations were some of the best he had observed. He also stated that the TSA Advisors Dr. Banks and Mr. Odom were going a wonderful job working with the TSA students.
